Born December 31, 1930 in Zachary, Louisiana, the only child of Elmer and Edith Mae (nee Betts) Langewisch. She died peacefully surrounded by family on November 28, 2017. Betty married her college sweetheart Paul Henderson. Mrs. Henderson received her BA from Washington University in 1951, Masters in Education from University of Pittsburgh in 1965 and Master of Science in 1981 from Columbia University. She devoted her life to the United Methodist Church and held positions from local to national levels, including Assistant Secretary General of the National Division of the General Board of Global Ministries in New York City.

She retired to enjoy more time with PEO sisters and numerous knitting groups. Betty was an activist, dedicated to her church and social justice. Her husband predeceased her in 2004. Betty will be sadly missed by her cousins, Bob, Steve and Bruce Betts and her children Keith Henderson, Karen Henderson Hardy, Laura Henderson Walter, Judith Kunkle Dehoux and Paul Frost, her grandchildren Breon Dehoux Sarrano, Eric Henderson, Jason Hardy, Jessica Hardy, Elizabeth Walter, Katherine Walter, Melissa Walter, Benjamin Walter, Bryony Frost and great grandchildren Ryann Henderson and Paxtyn Henderson.

A service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday December 2nd, 4 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church (541 WI 59, Waukesha, WI).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to her alma maters, Salem UMC or the Board of Church and Society in Washington, DC.
