Born into Eternal Life, Monday, August 7th, 2017, age 97. Rob was married to his beloved wife Jeanne (Lexa) for 63 years. She predeceased him in 2007. Rob was the dear father of Michael, Peter (Linda), Kathy, Trish (Jim) Barnes, Margie Plueger, Jeanne (Dave) Schleif, and Bob. Treasured Papa of Jason (Itzel) and Eric (Anna) Zimmer; Matthew (Kelly) Schleif, Nicole (A.J.) Breger, and Angelica (Tyler) Marshall; Zach (Natalie), Josh, Andy, and Robert Plueger; Justin, Jacob, Jeremy, Jenna, and Julia Kailing. Great grandfather of Hazel and William Zimmer; Olivia and Logan Breger; Owen Plueger. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Della Kailing and his brother Harold (Beth) Kailing. Further survived by many loving relatives and dear friends.
Rob graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and enlisted into the Army Air Corps after his graduation in 1941. He was a Budget and Fiscal Officer at a B-17 Air Force Base, located in Rapid City, SD. After 3 years of active military service, Rob went on to serve as an Audit Appeals Officer with the Internal Revenue Service, where he served for over 30 years.
Rob and his wife Jeanne resided in the Village of Elm Grove for over 50 years and were long time members of St. Mary's Parish. Rob enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin Badgers football games, was an avid fan of professional tennis, loved to read, and follow the stock market.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18th at San Camillo Chapel, Wauwatosa (10200 W. Bluemound Rd.) from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, followed by a luncheon in the O’Donnell room at San Camillo. Graveside services will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Elm Grove.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and was a dear friend to many.
