Alice Mary Treder was born on June 30, 1925 in Stevens Point, WI, daughter of Jacob and Mary Treder. She was baptized at St. Stanislas Church in Stevens Point. She received her first communion and confirmation at St. Mary’s Church in Custer, WI.
Alice graduated from Plover Hills Grade School, P.J. Jacobs High School, the University of Wisconsin and she also attended Marquette University.
She taught in several Wisconsin Schools for over 44 years until her retirement from the Greenfield School District in 1988. She then became involved in volunteer work. Alice spent 18 years volunteering at the Milwaukee County Zoo, one year at Milwaukee Public Museum and over 30 years at the St. Jude Thrift Shop. After recovering from back and hip surgery Alice went back to volunteer at the St. Jude’s Thrift Shop.
Alice loved to travel and was a world traveler. She had been to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Israel, most of Europe, a Panama Canal cruise and visited most of the states in the USA. She loved gardening, cooking, traveling and also enjoyed visiting her friends in hospitals and nursing homes.
Alice is survived by her brother Tony Treder and her sister Rose Marie Treder. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bernice Bruske and her brother James Treder.
A Visitation will be held at Becker Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 W. North Ave. Brookfield WI 53005, on Sunday May 23, 2021 from 2 PM until 3 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 734 Glenview Ave. Wauwatosa WI 53213, on Monday May 24, 2021 at 10 AM. Burial will take place at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alice’s name to the Milwaukee County Zoo or St. Jude the Apostle Parish would be greatly appreciated.
