Passed away peacefully on October 22, 2021 at the age of 98. Beloved husband of Rosemarie. Loving dad of Greg (Andrea). Adored grandpa of Trevor (Amanda) and Kyle. Alvin will be greatly missed by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Sophie, and his nine siblings.
Although the second youngest of 10, Alvin was looked to as the family leader. Through his faith, service, and education Alvin, dedicated himself to his church, family and community.
Al was a B26 pilot and flight instructor during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion post in Brookfield. He was privileged to experience an Honor Flight in 2010 and ranked it as a highlight of his later years.
At the University of Wisconsin Madison he graduated with a Jurist Doctor Law degree but the real prize was meeting the love of his life Rosemarie Gurda. Their love affair lasted for over 69 years. Al practiced law for 40 years and founded his own Milwaukee personal injury firm of Simarski and Stack.
At home and in the community Alvin was a man of many talents. Early on, he and Rosemarie agreed that he would learn to dance and she would learn to golf. He was a scratch golfer and at one time held course records at multiple Madison courses. He was an annual presence at the PolAm charity golf tournament. Alvin and Rosemarie became life long ballroom dancers and belonged to the Dancero dance club for 3 decades. Always into fitness, Al was a daily exerciser and won many senior Olympics events. For 6 plus decades Al was an active member of St. Mary’s parish in Elm Grove. Throughout the 1960’s Al gave countless hours as troop Scoutmaster and served as captain of his ushers team for 40 years: “Move on in, we can fit at least two more in this pew”.
Wisconsin sports were a passion (especially the Packers, Badgers and Brewers), but Marquette Basketball was a special bond he happily shared with his wife, son and grandsons
A Visitation will be held on Monday November 1, 2021, at St, Mary’s Visitation Parish, 1260 Church St, Elm Grove, from 9 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
