“Chickie”

Of Elm Grove was born to Eternal Life on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at the age of 85. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Arline A. (nee Vlcansky) of 61 years; his children, Julianne (Robert) Salamone and Anthony J. “Tony” (Monica) Jennaro; grandchildren, Philip (Emily) Lehman, Anne Marie (Daniel) Berardi, Sophia Lehman, Michael Lehman, Anthony W., Joseph (Callie), Mario, Vincent, Florence and Dominic Jennaro; great- grandchildren, Anna and Catherine Lehman, and Cecilia Jennaro. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, great- nieces & nephews, other family and friends. Chickie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “George” and Rosaria “Sara” Jennaro, and nine siblings.

In the early 1900’s, his grandfather Mauro and father “George” began peddling fruits and vegetables door to door. By the 1940’s, Jennaro Brothers was one of several family businesses on Commission Row in the Third Ward. Chickie was the third generation owner of Jennaro Brothers Produce, turning it into the successful, business that it is today. The company, now owned by his son Anthony, continues to thrive and is one of the few original family owned businesses of the former Commission Row.  Jennaro Brothers Produce is now a fifth generation company with two of his grandsons, Joe and Mario joining the family business. 

Chickie and Arline enjoyed traveling, wintering in Arizona, dancing, and being with their children and grandchildren.  Chickie was a lifetime Green Bay Packers season ticket holder.  He enjoyed going to the games and tailgating especially with his children and grandchildren.  In his free time he enjoyed yardwork and gardening. Nothing in life was more important to him than family and everything he did, was for them. His wife, children and grandchildren hold close in their hearts all the many wonderful memories of times spent together.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Becker Ritter Funeral Home (14075 W. North Ave., Brookfield, WI). Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:45 AM at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
