Carolyn Bernice (Friedman) Majewski was born to eternal life on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was born on July 20, 1921, to Frank P. and Louise (Schenking) Friedman in Halbur, Iowa. She graduated from St. Angela’s Academy and St. Anthony Hospital nursing school in nearby Carroll, Iowa. Carolyn joined the Navy in 1943 and worked as a Navy nurse in California, Idaho, and Illinois, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. She met her husband, Dr. Joseph T. Majewski, in the Navy and they were married on March 23, 1946, at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Together they raised six children: Suzy (Scott) White of Aledo, Illinois; Dr. Joseph (Lynda) Majewski of Burlington; Dr. Michael (Carole) Majewski of Burlington; Robert (Kathy) Majewski of Onalaska; Roberta (John) Graf of Tomah; and Dr. Paul (Elsie) Majewski of Franklin.
Carolyn enjoyed playing bridge and other card games, bingo, golfing, and traveling. She was an avid fan of the Brewers and the Packers. Carolyn also enjoyed time with her family and treasured being a grandma and great-grandma. She was very committed to her Catholic faith and prayer life.
In addition to her children and their spouses, Carolyn is survived by 13 grandchildren: Fr. Gregory (Scott), Jeffrey (Kristin), Fr. Gabriele (Tim), and Adam (Jennifer) White; Joseph (Kim), Mark (Jodi), Isabelle, and Emma Majewski; Julie (Alan) Domeyer; John Andrew (Jessica) Graf; Amy (Alex) Bustillos; Desiree (Josue) Saavedra; and Maricela (Nephtaly) Medina. She was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren: Natalia Guerrero; Allison, Jillian, Nolan, and Weston White; Annaliese, Sara, Elaina, James, Henry, and Grace Majewski; Jackson and Madison Graf; Lily Domeyer; Amani Correa; Paul, Isabella, and Catalina Saavedra; Cristian Alcala; and Camila Casimir. Two more great-grandchildren are due later this year. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, and her many special friends at San Camillo.
Carolyn’s husband, Joseph preceded her in death by exactly 30 years and 5 hours. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her siblings: Laura, Fr. Leander, Walter and Dean Friedman; and Verena Eich; as well as sisters-in-law Louise and Jeanette Friedman, and brother-in-law Orlando Eich.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Chapel at San Camillo, 10200 West Bluemound Road, Wauwatosa, with Fr. Naveen Pallurathil officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
