David R. Metz

David R. Metz, born 2/23/1960 passed away peacefully on August 21, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. When he entered heaven he was reunited with his parents Elizabeth A. (Murphy) and Richard Metz and siblings; Mary, Judy and Steven.

David graduated from Milwaukee Tech High School with a scholarship for football. David was a talented football player and named All City for offence and defense. David chose to forge his own path of freedom and adventure. He traveled the country by bicycle or motorcycle alone and with close family/friends. 

He loved hunting, hiking, fresh air and was truly happy living the outdoor lifestyle. 

David was an avid reader and enjoyed audio books as he rested during his cancer treatments.  He was a hands on, a self-made person who was as mechanically inclined as his father was.  He tinkered with everything and was able to repair or create whatever was needed.  He enjoyed helping others with difficult projects.

He died the way he lived, he wrote his own rules and if you said he couldn’t do it he would make sure he could.  David led an interesting and private live who had many stories about his experiences and adventures.  David is deeply loved by all who knew him. His smile was warm and sincere. He has kept us close in spirit and has brought all of us who knew him closer together in family and love.

David is survived by his sister Jean (Metz) & James Zandt, and brothers Michael Metz and Timothy Metz. Uncle to Rebecca, Angela, Tyler and Natalie (Michael). Devon, Steven, Jennifer (Tim).  Great uncle to Audrey, Aiden, Liam, Oliver and Hank.

David had a special loving relationship with Aunt Lorraine Kaltenbach (Godmother), cousins Don, Bob, Gary, Ken, Tom, Dan & Christine (Condon) Kaltenbach.

During his time of illness, David was cared for and watched over closely by best friends and cousins, Danny Kaltenbach and Kenny and Alana Kaltenbach. Our family is grateful for all the love and care given to David in his time of need. He was never alone in this world and is now watched over and loved by our family in heaven.

David is further survived by Aunt Pat and Uncle Jim Clendening and many loving cousins, 2nd cousins and friends.
