Doris LaBounty

Doris Ann (nee Darrah) LaBounty, age 88 of Brookfield - formerly of Humboldt, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday surrounded by her loving family, on October 4, 2018.  A private service was held at Heritage Place in Brookfield on Saturday, October 6, 2018.  

Doris was the daughter of James and Verl Darrah and was born June 6, 1930 in Kanawha, Iowa.  After graduating from high school, she attended Iowa State Teachers' College (now known as UNI) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. 

Following college, she taught one year in a country school which had 7 grades.  After teaching in Ute, Iowa for one year, she eventually ended a 24 year teaching career at St. Mary's School in Humboldt, Iowa. 

She was united in marriage to Harvey LaBounty in 1949.  Doris had numerous jobs.  She owned and worked at Harv's Drive-In and did substitute teaching all before going back to college. 

Those who have shared the joys of her life include two sons; Larry with his wife Chris and their four children, and Randy with his wife Janelle and their three daughters.  Doris also had two daughters; Becky Palmert with husband Steve and her two children and Renee LaBounty in Palm Desert, CA.  Doris enjoys having five great grandchildren. 

She enjoyed life, especially with her family and her church.  She like to play cards, play board games and golf.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Harvey.
