Elizabeth “Jeanie” Knich passed away peacefully while surrounded by her children on September 2, 2023. She was born in Stevens Point, WI, on August 2, 1935, to the late George and Elizabeth Schultz (Piotrowski).
She is survived by her daughters Sandy Zemke (Mark) of Milwaukee, WI, Diane Knich of Wauwatosa, WI, Mary Knich of Winter Springs, FL, and Suzanne Roy (Dan) of North Berwick, ME. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lauren Zemke and Genevieve, Zacharie, and Andre Roy, and her brothers George and Dennis Schultz.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gregory Knich, son Joseph Knich, brother Leonard Schultz, and sisters Irene Rader, Lorraine Simonis, Margaret Baltz, Dorothy Hickey, and Nancy Schultz.
After graduating from P. J. Jacobs High School in 1954, Jeanie moved to Milwaukee and worked for Allen-Bradley, then married, and started a family. She later worked at Target for many years. Family was always the center of her life.
In her later years, Jeanie traveled extensively in the United States, mostly while visiting and traveling with her children and grandchildren. Some of her favorite trips included the Orlando theme parks and Florida beaches, Washington, D.C., and coastal Maine, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
Jeanie was known for her deep Catholic faith, kindness, sensitivity to the downtrodden, and generosity. She was known to quietly slip people a few dollars when she thought they might need it.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 734 Glenview Avenue, Wauwatosa, WI 53213. A mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 203 Casimir Road, Stevens Point, WI 54481. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, or your local food bank.
