Ellen Ann Hartmann

Born August 29, 1935 in New York City to Peter and Elizabeth Prunty. The thirteenth of fourteen children, survived by one brother, William Prunty of Danbury, CT. 

Loving wife of Robert Ernest Hartmann who preceded her to eternal life in 1980. Proud mother of Robert (Carol), Christopher (Owen), John (Mary Beth), Ann Marie (James) Heffernan, Fr. Paul Hartmann, Michael, and Katherine (Kevin) Miller.  

Joy-filled grandmother of Daniel (Beth), Laura (Conor) O’Halloran, Gregory, Joseph (Serina), Robert (Madison), Allen, Anne, Madeleine, Jack, Robert (Jenna), John (Olivia), Joseph (fiancé Sarah), Elizabeth, and Thomas.  Great-grandmother to Nicholas, William, Hadley and two more on the way. 

Ellen was proud of her Irish ancestry, New York roots and, most significantly, her deep Catholic faith and love for the Blessed Virgin Mother.  From her own upbringing she valued the closeness of family, and as a one-time school teacher she made sure that love of education was one of her great gifts to her children. 

Please join the family for visitation and funeral mass, Saturday, September 2, 2023 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1755 N Calhoun Road Brookfield WI 53005. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 NOON. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Catholic Memorial High School.
