Francis I. Andres, M.D. was born to eternal life on August 3, 2022 at the age of 89. Beloved spouse of 57 years to the late Mary J. Andres (Nee Trecek). He devoted his life to the medical profession and to his family. Francis Andres was born Nov. 22, 1932 to Rose (Nee McCabe) Andres and Francis (Frank) Andres in Milwaukee. Loving father of Therese (John) Novotny, Renee (Mark) Dergin, Stephen Andres, Diane (Jon) Fehring, David Andres, and Mark (Annie) Andres. Grandfather of Maria Novotny (Kevin Jordan), Kate (Carlos) Angeles, Julia Novotny (John Ross), Martha (Michael) Britsch, Meg (Matthew) Bechtel, Joseph Novotny, Jenise Fehring, Noelle Fehring, Adam Fehring, Rory Fehring, Ben Andres, Anna Andres, Thomas Andres, Mary Andres, Caroline Andres, and Charlie Andres. Great-grandchildren Nina Jordan, the late Gabriel Angeles, Theodore Britsch, and Frances Ross.
Graduated from Greendale Junior H.S. class in 1947. Graduated from Pius XI High School in 1950. Graduated from Marquette University School of Medicine (subsequently Medical College of Wisconsin) in the class of 1958. Proudly served in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as a Captain in the Medical 8th Air Force Group at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio from August 1959 to August 1961. In 1962, worked at Milwaukee General Hospital in the field of Urology. Completed his training in 1966 at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Froedtert MCW). In 1966, joined Urology Associates Ltd., S.C. and over the years he became President of the group.
The group practiced at several hospitals in the area, primarily St. Joseph’s, St. Luke’s Aurora, Elmbrook, and West Allis Memorial, subsequently Aurora West Allis. He was Associate Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the former Marquette Medical School between 1966 to 1990, teaching residents and students in training, rising from instructor to Associate Clinical Professor of Urology between 1966-1990. Served as Chief of Surgery twice at West Allis Memorial and subsequently became Chief of Staff, 1989-1991. At that time, was nominated to serve on the Board of Directors of Aurora West Allis Hospital and served there in that capacity until 2015.
After his retirement he and his wife traveled extensively throughout England, Europe and the Middle East, Scandinavia, Russia, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Eastern Europe, and Greece.
Dr. Andres, his wife, and his family of 6 children moved to Elm Grove in 1969. The family lived there for 53 years. They were long-standing members of St. Mary’s Visitation Parish.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 4 PM until the time of the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM. Additional visitation, at St. Mary’s Visitation Church, 1260 Church Street, Elm Grove, WI, on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 10 to 10:45 AM with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 AM. Graveside services will follow at St. Mary’s Visitation Cemetery in Elm Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University, St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, and House of Peace.
