Gloria Frederick

October 16, 1926 ~ January 10, 2022 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Born to Eternal Life Monday January 10, 2022. Age 95. Beloved wife of 67 years to her sweetheart Paul. She was the proud mother of Ginger Frederick and Lon (Kerry) Frederick. She was also very proud of her three grandchildren Renee, Matt (Alexandra) and Dan (Carly) Frederick.

Gloria experienced a tremendous life’s journey spanning four generations. She was born in Steele Missouri in 1926, the daughter of Dewey and Lorene Yarbrough and was the first of seven children. Growing up she was musically inclined and played the piano at her high school graduation and also played the trumpet and sax.

Gloria attended Missouri University where she first met Paul and received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Armed with her degree she had an exciting opportunity to live in Hollywood, California and become a writer for the Associated Press with the assignment to interview the movie stars. Among the many stars interviewed were Bette Davis, James Cagney, Victor Mature, Ester Williams, Red Skeleton and Elizabeth Taylor.

Gloria and Paul married in 1950 and moved to La Crosse, WI where Ginger and Lon were born. Then moved to Brookfield in 1956 when they were entering school. Both were actively involved in the community. Gloria was President of the Jayceettes and Paul was President of the Jaycees.

Gloria and Paul were showstoppers when they stepped on the dance floor. Others on the floor would move to the sideline and watch their elegant dancing with precision swoops and twirls.

Gloria also enjoyed reading and writing, traveling, skiing and the family’s long-haired Dachshunds. While Gloria had many interests perhaps her most distinguishing attribute was her compassionate heart and dynamic presence. She was a gentle soul, extremely kind and generous and had an enormous capacity to listen and always provided thoughtful insight, understanding and guidance.

With Gloria’s spirit surrounding us the family is planning a private Celebration of Life gathering at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
