Hugh Robert Nelson

Passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Sharon for 61 years. Devoted dad of Robert Hugh Nelson and James Edward Nelson. Adored grandpa of Patrick Nelson-Paas, Hugh Paul Nelson, Anna Mary Nelson and Lila Evelyn Nelson. Dearest brother of Barbara Batson and Beverly Wolfe. Caring uncle of Mark Keatts, Bradford Keatts, Gavin Wolfe, Greg Wolfe and Tammy Wolfe. Best friend of Ronald Wellbaum, Patti Henchel and Dick & Janet Vogel. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Leonard Nelson and Anna Mary Nelson (nee Banners) and his son Joseph Nelson. Hugh will be greatly missed by his caretaker Mickey Wilson, other relatives and many friends.

Hugh Nelson will be remembered as a man of faith, a family man, a big-band style piano player and an outdoor sport enthusiast.  Hugh brought family and friends together with music for singing around the piano during holidays and special family events.  He loved to spend time in the woods up at “the hunting camp” and at “Our Cabin” in St Helen MI.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will take place on Friday, February 5th, 2021 from 10-11AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 11AM.
