December 17, 1935 ~ January 17, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Roy J. (Jack) Bauer Jr. of Hereford, AZ passed on to eternal life on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was 87 years old.
Jack never liked equating a number with his age, but always said he was going to live to be 100! Although he didn’t quite make that, he lived a very active life, and surely never seemed as old as whatever number was his actual age. In fact, he was still working as a full-time Branch Manager for Longbridge Financial through most of the past year, in Sierra Vista, AZ. He and his wife Jan were very active showing their champion Collies at dog shows throughout the southwest. They also owned quite a few horses over the years, most notably Jack’s trail mount “Sonny” whom he owned for 33 years before his passing. In his younger days, Jack was also quite the water skier, and continued to amaze us when at nearly 80 years old, he could still take a spin on the water. He was an active member of Mustang Mountain Cowboy Church in Whetstone, Arizona where his collies were loved and welcomed at Sunday services. Jack was also an avid magician and performed at many different venues throughout his life.
Jack is survived by his wife Janice of 49 years and stepdaughter Tamara (Michael) Goldsby; children from his first marriage to Donna Bauer: Brenda (Larry) Weyers, Rhonda (Stephen) Murphy, John (Karen) Bauer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lola Bauer, and stepdaughter, Lisa McComas.
A private burial service will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, and a Celebration of Life at Mustang Mountain Cowboy Church, Whetstone, Arizona at a later date.
