Born to Eternal Life on Monday, February 19, 2018, surrounded by his family at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of the late Patricia “Pat” (nee McCue). Loving father of Edwin (Michelle) Cordes, Margaret Mary Cordes, Amy (Tim) Wroblewski and Brigid Woodland. Proud Papa of Thomas, Mary and John Cordes; Kate, Lizzie, Michael and T.J. Wroblewski; Scott and Patricia Woodland. Also survived by his sisters, Margot Cordes and Roberta Cosentino; his niece, Chris Lemon and Tom, Tom Jr., Mary, Kathy and Jean McCue.  Preceded in death by his wife Pat; daughter Katie; son-in-law Gregory and sister-in-law Mary McCue- Adams.

John graduated from Marquette Medical School in 1954. He was a long time physician at St. Luke’s Hospital and served as Chief of Staff; he also taught at the Medical College of Wisconsin. John was a proud United States Navy Veteran and served overseas in Italy as a Physician. He had a love for art, playing golf and Marquette Basketball. Most of all he loved being with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, the 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, Elm Grove (1260 Church St. Please arrive at church by 12:45 p.m.).The burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name to, The Catherine Cordes Scholarship Fund, C/O Divine Savior Holy Angels High school would be appreciated.
