Of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at her home with family by her side at the age of 54 years. She was born in Madison, the daughter of Gerald A. and Kathleen B. Mundschau. Karen attended 82nd Street School (now German Immersion) and Mother of Good Counsel. A graduate of St. Mary School in Elm Grove and Brookfield Central High School, she went on to obtain a degree in physics from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and earned her doctorate in optometry from The Ohio State University in 2000.
As a Doctor of Optometry, Karen had been in practice since 2000, serving the metro Milwaukee area. Her passion was to provide her patients with preventive eye care and the best possible vision correction. In 2008, Dr. Karen Repavich acquired Milwaukee Family Vision Center and began expanding services.
Music was a big part of Karen’s life. She started playing the flute in 6th grade and never stopped. She played in the Purdue Boiler Makers Band in college and the Menomonee Falls Symphony Orchestra. Her passion for music continues in her sons.
Karen and her husband, Wyatt have created a life together for the past 30 years. They have two sons, William and Alex. She is further survived by her nine siblings, Barbara, David Mundschau, Jean (Rick) Glowacki, Steven (Kathy), Thomas, Matthew, Laura, Daniel (Annette) and Joseph (Jennifer) Mundschau; her in-laws, James and Judith Repavich; brothers-in-law, Wade (Ramel) and James (Suzanne) Repavich; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Kathleen.
A gathering will be held on Wednesday, April 11, from 5:00 PM until the time of the 7:00 PM Life Celebration Service, at the funeral home.
