Kelly Schmitz

February 1, 1967 ~ October 24, 2023 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Tribute

Kelly M. Schmitz, at the tender age of 56, was reunited with her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Schmitz, and her sister, Renee Stiles, after a courageous battle with cancer which peacefully ended on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Kelly’s memory will be eternally graced by her outrageous sense of humor as well as her unwavering generosity and love for her family and friends, both by marriage and by choice.  As the adage goes, you get what you give, and Kelly was surrounded by a circle of adoration because she showered each and every one of us with the same love daily.  Even as this illness laid siege to her body, her charisma and quick wit remained undiminished.  Her trademark eye-rolling sass remained her steadfast companion until her very last days on this earthly plane.

Kelly started her professional journey at Miller Brewing Company in 1991.  Her 30-year career, which encompassed roles in Sports Marketing, Strategy, Integration and Human Resources culminated in a joyous retirement from Molson Coors just last year.  Collaborating with Kelly was akin to embarking on a daily adventure, as you could never predict her response to an email, anticipate who her next playful target might be, or guess where your photograph would surface with a clever caption attached.

She loved the beach, gardening, and home improvement projects.  What truly warmed her heart was the company of friends gathering for a meal and enjoying a Miller Lite or perhaps indulging in a glass of merlot (or three).  While we affectionately called Kelly our "princess," when October rolled around, she transformed into the undisputed Queen of Halloween. Her outdoor decorations and spook-filled displays were nothing short of incredible. Those fortunate enough to attend her annual Halloween party will forever carry vivid memories of the unforgettable festivities she hosted.

Kelly will be deeply missed by her sister-in-laws Susan (Ron) Loomis and Elizabeth (James) Strang along with their children Kathleen (Marshall Burrack) McCool, Elizabeth (Dale) Martin, Patrick (Lauren) Strang and Grace (Jeremy) Oliver along with great-nieces, nephews, and her in-law family.  Also left behind is her devoted “Team Kelly”:  Sandy Miksic, Linda Romanowski, Cathy Harmeyer, Gloria Herron, Julie Albrecht, and Sandra Zenoni among other dear friends she made and loved throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, consider a donation to the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative, Gary Senise Foundation, or another charity of your choice.

Until we meet again, in white after Labor Day of course, we will hold you close in our hearts, cherish the moments we shared, and share laughter both with you and at the memories we’ve created.

Rest in Peace, Princess
