Mae (Nero) Vetrano

(Nee Nero), died peacefully Sunday, June 23, at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Inno Vetrano and cherished mother of David (Linda) Vetrano, Vicki Schroeder, Terry (Scott) Kraemer and Rich (Karin) Vetrano. Dear grandma of Mitch, Erika (Estevan), Jordan, Jessica, Mason, Evan and Julia; and great-grandma of Reese and Roman. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Alphonsene Nero, her siblings Roy, Ernie, Davie, Seme, Margaret, her daughter-in-law Gennean and son-in-law Michael.

Loving and feisty, Mae was a wonderful mother, wife and friend. She was lively and independent until the day of her unexpected passing (photo above taken last week). Mae was exceptionally hard working, a habit from her childhood on a farm in Tigerton WI. Over her long life she was a Gimbels employee, a homemaker, a dedicated nurse, talented seamstress, volunteer visiting nurse, an amazing cook, and she always made sure her family attended mass on Sunday. Mae enjoyed vacations up north, eating at restaurants with family and friends, bingo, saying the rosary, and her many friendships at Parkwood Highlands in New Berlin. She drove her zippy little Honda longer than was advisable. Her desserts and potato salad are legendary.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 28 from 4PM until the prayer service at 7PM. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1121 S. 116th St., West Allis) from 10AM to 10:45AM, Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM. Reception to follow at the University Club of Milwaukee (924 E. Wells St.)
