Margaret Joan "Joanne" Beguhl

Margaret Joan “Joanne” Beguhl, age 95, of Waukesha, WI passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in the presence of her daughter.  Joan is survived by her children Ann Bohman and Mark Smith, grandchildren Joshua “JJ” (Ashley) Smith, Justin (Krista) Smith, Jake Smith, Jason Bohman, John (Jennifer) Bohman and Erin (Charles) Eldermire; 9 great grandchildren and her sister Mary Alice Lowther.  Joan is preceded in death by her husbands Charles E. Smith and Royal E. Beguhl; her siblings Wallace Barr and Nora Jane Rutherford.

Joan was born in Lancaster, OH and raised on a nearby farm.  She attended college and married her high school sweetheart Charles E. Smith in 1947.  In 1951 they moved to Wisconsin and resided in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa until Charles’s death in 1976.  Joan married Royal Beguhl in 1983 and lived in Brookfield.

Joan enjoyed various activities over the years like square dancing, bird-watching, camping, bridge club, church activities, volunteering, sewing, book clubs and going on long motor cycle rides with Royal.  Joan will be most remembered for her positive outlook on life, her sweet spirit,  and infectious laugh.

Private family services will be held and a Celebration of Life will be planned in the future with burial at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa or to the Dementia Society of America.  The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at ProHealth Home Hospice for the loving care shown to Joan and her family.
