Marie L. Brannan

January 13, 1921 ~ November 8, 2021 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Tribute

Marie Lorene (Haas) Brannan was born in Toledo, OH on January 13, 1921 and passed away on November 8, 2021 in Oconomowoc WI at the age of 100; She was a loving wife through 52 years of marriage, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and always had her prayers going to keep us safe. We will miss her dearly and have many great memories.

Marie was raised in northwest Ohio and taught both elementary and secondary school.  She graduated from Central Catholic High School and Mary Manse College in Toledo, and obtained a BSE degree in 1967.  She appreciated the excellent preparation education gave her.  

Marie and husband Bob lived in Toledo and Norwalk OH 1946 - 1962, and Milwaukee WI 1962 – 1983.  She and Bob built a home in Lake Mills WI.  From 1975 their children and grandchildren enjoyed  summer and winter activities at Rock Lake.  They retired full time to Lake Mills in 1983 and she lived there until 2011.

Bob and Marie enjoyed Motor Home traveling, going south to Florida to visit relatives and grandchildren, going west to visit national parks and son Bob’s family in the Pacific Northwest, or taking son Larry’s children, one at a time, to a special place on his/her school vacation.

Marie lived at Forest Ridge Senior Community, Hales Corners WI 2011 - 2019 and Lake Country Landing, Oconomowoc WI 2020 – 2021 where she had many loving neighbors and caregivers.

Marie is survived by son Bob (Anna) Brannan and daughter-in-law Sally Brannan.  She was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren: Laura (Jorge) Gonzalez, Sean (Tammy) Brannan, Christi Brannan, Terry (Keokee) Brannan, Mike (Katie) Brannan, Kelly (Dave) Schultz, Philip (Raisa) Brannan, and Julia (Brian) Keough; twelve great grandchildren: Ashley Collins, Aubrey Gonzalez, Christian Gonzalez, Christian Brannan, Zach Brannan, Pearson Brannan, Nora Brannan, Luke Brannan, Kallen Schultz, Cole Brannan, Ray Brannan and Lola Schultz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob and son Larry Brannan; her mother and father, Elizabeth (Carney) and William Haas, her adopting parents Joseph and Helen (Romstadt) Haas (Daddy and Mom); her siblings Bernadine (John) Semanson, Jean (Philip) Dominique, Doris (Charles) Cray, William (Gloria) Haas and Joanne (John) Mermer.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the many who cared for Marie.  She wrote “I am forever grateful for the help and encouragement I received whenever I asked for it.”

Arrangements for a celebration of Marie’s 100 years of life will be arranged at a future date. If you wish, please make a donation to the charity of your choice or a mass in memory at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Lake Mills, WI.
