Tribute

Neal F. Schulz, 86, of New Berlin, WI, died unexpectedly March 3, 2024.

Neal was born in Clinton, WI, son of William and Elsie Schulz. He was a baptized and confirmed member of Christ Lutheran Church in Clinton.

A stellar athlete and student at Clinton High School, Neal was elected King of football homecoming festivities and was named salutatorian of his senior class. He graduated from Whitewater College with a Bachelor of Science degree and subsequently earned a Master of Science at the University of Michigan. Neal taught physics at Greenfield High School for many years.

He married Carol Duenow July 23, 1988, in Brookfield. They enjoyed special times traveling including cruising the Alaskan Inside Passage as well as taking trips to San Francisco, the Hawaiian Islands, and Florida.

In retirement, Neal audited classes at Wisconsin Lutheran College to further his understanding of the Bible. His interests included spending time with God, enjoying art and craft fairs, watching sporting events, and attending concerts and theatrical productions.

Neal’s passion for cars, evident in his membership in local Corvair and Porsche clubs, was fulfilled by building an Avenger kit car and by customizing two dune buggies. In addition, he loved riding his motorcycles and taking nieces and nephews for rides.

Special thanks to David Schulz, nephew, and Jean Wilfong, niece, for loving and compassionate care during the past year. Thanks also to Paul David for being a helpful neighbor.

Neal is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ron Schulz, his niece, Gwen Zanzinger, and his great-nephew, Scott Wellhausen.

He is survived by his wife, his sister, Elaine Schollmeyer, his brother, Clair Schulz, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
