On Tuesday, August 6th, 2019, Penelope Ann "Penny" Kremel, loving wife, mother and grandmother, was born to eternal life at the age of 79 with her family & loved ones by her side.
Penny was born on August 7th, 1939 to Howard and Theresa (Gross) Brandt in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated from Bayview High School and went on to Mount Sinai Hospital where she received a degree as an X-Ray Technician. It was there that she met the love of her life Allan while he was a patient. They were married on October 26th, 1968 in Waukegan, IL.
Penny and Allan enjoyed many activities throughout their 59 years together including sailing and raising their four boys. She was an amazing mother who took time off from her career to stay home with her boys. During that time, she was also a caregiver for other children, some remained in her life and were very special to her. After her boys grew older, she went back to work as an X-Ray Technician for private practices and Aurora Hospital until she retired.
Penny's pride and joy were her family, friends and her many pets. Penny loved the simple things in life, staying close to home, doing laundry, gardening, chatting with her friends on the phone and listening to country music. She especially loved Neil Diamond. She enjoyed countless family gatherings at the Kremel house which usually ended with an exciting game of Rummy. Penny adored her pets and usually had a cat or dog on her lap. She cherished her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. They played board games, read books and built many legos together. A visit with Grandma usually included a popsicle, a juice box and fruit snacks. She loved spoiling her grandkids.
Left to honor Penny and remember her love are her husband, Allan; her children, Timothy (Donna Anderson) Kremel, Todd (Carrie) Kremel, Jeffrey (Megan) Kremel, and Stephen (Stacey) Kremel; her grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Finn, Colton Anderson, Madalyn and Sawyer; as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard, her mother, Theresa and her brother James Brandt.
Visitation will be held on August 20th, 2019 from 4pm to 6pm with a Memorial service to follow at Becker Ritter Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made in Penny’s name to Elmbrook Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
