Rachel Ann Steiner

February 22, 2019

Tribute

Rachel Ann Steiner passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the age of 27.

Beloved daughter of Fred & Lynn Steiner, sister to Erin Steiner, aunt to Arielle Ramos, granddaughter to Dolores Steiner-Krull and Delbert & Jane Hunt, niece to Lisa(Stuart) Rauvola and niece & goddaughter to Linda(Jim) Kroll.  Significant other to Sean Carroll.  Granddaughter in heaven to the late Fred Steiner and step-granddaughter in heaven to the late Tom Krull.  Survived by many additional relatives and friends all sad to see her depart at such a young age.

Rachel was a beautiful person inside & out. She was intelligent, funny and had a deep love for music & animals. She was a thoughtful and caring girl loved by many who had a genuine interest in helping others. As such, in lieu of flowers, her family wishes that a donation in the charity of one's choice be made in Rachel's name.

If you are unsure of a charity, the family would appreciate contributions to charities that benefit the treatment of anxiety & depression or the treatment of alcohol addiction.  Rachel had issues with anxiety & depression which caused her to try to cope with alcohol.  While these were not the direct cause of Rachel's death, they were contributing factors that caused her to pass at such a young age.  Many people, especially young adults, feel that alcohol isn't as dangerous as "hard" drugs.

These are extremely difficult and complex issues. Part of what makes them even more difficult is the unnecessary blame & shame that are associated.  Anxiety, addiction and depression are brain diseases, therefore you have little control of it by yourself, but help if available if you reach out and remember there is no shame.  Do not give up if initial counseling or treatment does not work.  KEEP TRYING.

We as a family are sharing this openly and requesting these contributions for several reasons. One is hopefully to remove the stigma associated with these issues that Rachel experienced.  Two is to provide the resources people need to combat these problems.  The third is that it is our sincere hope that this will help just one person make a life-changing decision to get the help they need to spare their family the pain of losing someone so loved at such a young age.

We feel this is in the spirit of Rachel's desire to help others and will help us as a family feel that something positive can come from this devastating loss.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 12:00 noon until the 2:00 pm Memorial service at the Becker Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 W. North Ave, Brookfield, WI.
