Tribute

Richard M. Brophy, of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022 after a lengthy but well fought battle with cancer, at the age of 75.  Dick was the beloved husband of 51 years of Nancy (nee Nattermann) and cherished father of Brian (Emily), Moro, Illinois and Michael of Wauwatosa, WI. He was a loving “Papa” to his granddaughters, Grace and Anna Brophy.  He is survived by his siblings Tom (Suzanne) and sister Lynn (Terry) Chitwood and brother-in-law John (Susan) Nattermann of Omaha.   He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Brophy; his sister Kay Felt, and his Father and Mother-in-law, John and Patricia Nattermann.

Dick was born in Madison, WI and attended Edgewood High School.   He was a graduate of St. Norbert College where he met his wife Nancy.   He went on to receive his MBA from the University of Wisconsin in 1971.   Shortly after graduation he joined the banking community in Milwaukee where he became a well-respected executive at Republic National Bank, Badger Bank, and retired from North Shore Bank in 2009 as Executive Vice President and COO.  Dick was a superb and positive influence on many people and will be dearly missed by all.

A true Wisconsinite, Dick enjoyed the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks but his greatest passion was fishing for Bass on Home Lake in northern Wisconsin with Nancy beside him. He was a member of the Wisconsin Club, Dairymen’s Country Club and Western Racquet Club.

Our family would like to thank all of Dick’s physicians and nurses at Froedtert Hospital and especially Dr. Mark Lodes who was a friend and physician extraordinaire. Also, our deep gratitude goes to the caregivers at Zilber Family Hospice for their outstanding compassionate care.    Our love and thanks go out to all the friends and family who provided care and support during Dick’s long and arduous battle with cancer.

Gathering at the Funeral Home on Sunday, November 27, 2022, 11AM-1PM. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at 1PM.
