Robert G. Cummisford

Robert “Bob” Cummisford, age 84, of Menomonee Falls, WI found peace on Sunday, January 26. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor “Ellie” Cummisford; his children Amy (Jim) Zentner, Jennifer (Bill) Spankowski, Robert (Heather) Cummisford and Richard (Erin) Cummisford; his grandchildren Andrew Plichta, Thomas Flanagan, Adam Zentner, Jason (Taylor) Zentner, Joshua Zentner, Alison (Edgar) Spankowski, Corie Spankowski, Michael Spankowski, Lauren Spankowski, Holland Cummisford, Noah Cummisford, Ian Cummisford and Brent Cummisford; his great grandchildren Kye Guzman-Spankowski, Coen Guzman-Spankowski and Amelia Zentner and his sister Patricia “Diane” Cummisford. Bob is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Cummisford and his granddaughter Melanie Plichta.

Bob was a chemist graduate from DePaw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where he met Ellie at the first class of his freshman year. He worked always in research, development, and problem solving with building products, grain food supplements and medical packaging. For 10 years, he challenged students at MSOE in his Creative Thinking course. Bob enjoyed coaching his son’s soccer teams, and doing many DIY home projects. For many years, he was involved in Brookfield Fire Buffs, which provided supportive assistance to local fire departments. Through his Kiwanis affiliation, he delighted in an advisory role to the Brookfield Central Key Club. He and Ellie liked camping, train travel, and river cruises worldwide. He had a love of Dixieland Jazz music and played the banjo and harmonica.

A memorial visitation will be held at Brookfield Congregational United Church of Christ (16350 W. Gebhardt Rd, Brookfield) on Saturday, February 8 from 12 pm until 1:45 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2 pm.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Caring Place in Waukesha, the Arbor in Dickson Hollow and Seasons Hospice for the loving care shown to Bob and his family.
