Passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday night, July 2, 2018. He was born in Milwaukee on July 19, 1927. Preceded in death by his first wife LaVerne (Nee Stueve), survived by his loving children, daughter Kathleen (Gene) Schaber and son Donald (Sue) Jahncke. Also preceded in death by his second wife Lois (Nee Schneiberg) and survived by Lois’ loving children, Ann (Len) Niggemann, Gregg Gaertner, James (Judy Yanke) Gaertner, John (Joy) Gaertner, Patrick (Christine) Gaertner, Paul (Jennifer) Gaertner, Andrew (Tracey) Wadsworth. Preceded in death by brother Kenneth and sister in law Harriet (nee Deisseroth), survived by brother in law Alfred Stueve.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in 1945 – 1946 with the final rank of Fireman First Class on the Antietam, he was recalled in 1950 -51 during the Korean war.
Bob was a proud employee of Wisconsin Bell/AT&T for over 40 years. Bob kept extremely busy during retirement and was a very active member at Faith United Church of Christ before joining Brookfield Congregational United Church of Christ. Bob was a dedicated volunteer at AT&T Pioneers, enjoyed The Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild, loved fishing, working in his yard, going to the theatre and listening to Big Band Music. He and his son Don had a passion for planes and were members of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).
We will be celebrating Bob’s life at Brookfield Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) in Brookfield, 16350 Gebhardt Road, at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 14th with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brookfield Congregational UCC, who provided such great strength for him, and the St. Camillus Foundation (10200 W Bluemound Road Wauwatosa, WI 53226), who provided such great care for him, or a charity of your choice.
