Rodney Harris Anderson
June 9, 1935 ~ November 26, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old
Rodney (Rod) Harris Anderson passed away peacefully at his home on November 26, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born in June of 1935 to Fern Whiting Anderson and Harris Anderson and is survived by his wife and love of his life of sixty-four years Ginny DenDooven Anderson,; their children Betsy (Rick) Jones, Julie (Mark) Schmitz, Rod (Jennifer) Anderson and Christina (Jon) Donigan. grandchildren Bobby, Ricky and Jack Jones; Riley, Cole and Greta Schmitz; Isabel, Sawyer and Emma Anderson; Kara Donigan and great granddaughter Leyla Jones.
Rod grew up in Wisconsin Rapids with a profound love of the outdoors, nature, fishing and sports. He excelled in athletics, winning the 1951 Wisconsin High School State Basketball Championship as a Wisconsin Rapids Red Raider. He went on to the University of Wisconsin Madison playing Defensive End for the Badger football team. He was president of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Economics. Rod proudly served as an officer in the United States Army, then moved on to a highly respected career in sales management in the hospital industry.
His love for the outdoors was manifested in summer homes in Boulder Junction Wisconsin with family, friends, and the infamous “Canoe Group”, always in the quest of “the ever elusive walleye”. Rod was a masterful carver and painter of wild birds, Badger Sports Fan and adored husband, father and grandfather, always strong in his Christian Faith.
A private family service will be held in the Spring of 2024.
