Stephanie (Krainz) Nowak

Stephanie was born and raised in the Slovenian district of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is now Walker’s Point. In 1941, she married Joseph Krainz, her beloved husband, who proceeded her in death in 1976. Together they raised four children, Jeanne Krainz Melkus, Susan Krainz Slaton, Richard Krainz, and Nancy Krainz. Joe’s career took them to Phoenix, Arizona in the 1960s. It was then that Stephanie decided to pursue an advanced degree in education. At age 45 she began attending Arizona State University and went on to graduate with a Masters In Education. Her desire to continually learn did not stop there. She traveled many times to Europe, where she expanded her love of art, culture, and music. Stephanie will be best remembered for being a wonderful mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She will be greatly missed by her four children, Jeanne, Susan, Richard and Nancy, her five grandchildren, Julie Wasserfuhr, Catherine Duback, Katie Davis, Jennifer Weckwerth and Joseph Slaton, and her nine great-grandchildren, Isabella, Amelie, Stephanie, Joe, Andrew, Jane, Eva, Natalynn and Kinsley.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful and compassionate care she received at Congregational Home during the final years of her long amazing life. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Congregational Home would be appreciated. 

Private burial will be held in Phoenix, Arizona.
