Thomas L. Smallwood

Entered into Eternal Life September 10, 2022 at the age of 79.  Beloved husband of Sharon (nee Fladoos) for 56 years. Loving father of Stephanie (Craig) Lockwood. Cherished Grandad of Reagan and Wilder. 

Tom was born in Monmouth, IL on September 26, 1942.  He graduated from Fort Madison Iowa High School, then attended the University of Iowa and it was here he met his wife, Sharon.  He furthered his education at University of Iowa and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1966.  Soon after, they moved to Milwaukee where he accepted a position at Borgelt, Powell, Peterson, and Frauen Law Firm.  Tom was a dedicated and determined leader in the Greater Milwaukee Community.  He was the Chief Administrator of the Evan & Marion Helfaer Foundation for 48 years and ensured the success of many Milwaukee area nonprofit organizations.  In addition, he spearheaded the construction and development of Froedtert Memorial Hospital and was Chairman of the Board there for many years. 

Revered by many for his integrity, honesty, persistent kindness, intelligence, and generosity, Tom will be well remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him.  There will be a celebration of life for immediate family at a later date.  The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to their favorite non-profit organization in memory of Tom Smallwood.
