Timothy "Tim" Charles Charek

Timothy "Tim" Charles Charek, of Milwaukee passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the age of 68. Tim was born in Cleveland, Ohio May 9, 1950.

The two things he valued most in life were his faith and his family. Tim’s love for the Church became apparent at an early age when he heard confessions, doled out penance, and celebrated mass for his siblings in the family's basement. Later in life he worked for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for over thirty years both as director of the Certificate Division and as parish administrator for several parishes. After he retired from the Archdiocese he worked for the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. 

Tim was always generous with his time and talent, serving on the board of directors for Community Advocates for over thirty years and working with the Ignatian Volunteer Corp. He was an active member of St. Catherine’s parish serving on several committees.

He will be remembered for his words of wisdom and his twisted sense of humor. He was especially fond of Monty Python satire and, on occasion, did a great impression of Tim the Enchanter.  He was hesitant about going camping, but was a real trooper and his cigar smoke was a great mosquito deterrent. A Bear fan in Packer Nation, he was a risk taker. A little known fact about Tim was his love for house boating on the Mississippi!

Tim was a devoted father and adored by his children. He always knew just what to do to make them feel better, whether it was a scraped knee or a broken heart. His words of wisdom have guided them on their way to becoming wonderful, caring young adults.

Tim will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. So, in his honor lift a glass, light a good cigar and never pass up the chance to give each other a bear hug!

Tim is survived by his wife Meg (Heine), children, Joseph, Maggie, and Charlie: siblings Barbara (David) Catrone, Charlie, Joann (John) Briggs, George (Joey), Maryann (Vance) Dietz, Suzie (Tony) Sarlo.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Martha (Kohout).

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 3:30 until the 5:30 pm Mass at St. Catherine Parish, 5105 W. Center St., Milwaukee, WI 53201.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tim's honor may be made to St. Catherine Parish Food Pantry.
