Tribute

Mark Michael Simon, age 72, passed away on Thursday, January 19th, 2023.  Mark was born in Milwaukee on September 11th, 1950 to George and Irene (Ondrejech) Simon.  He grew up in West Allis, where, he, his sister Susan, and many extended family members forged great memories.  While attending St. Alloysius Grade School, Mark started what would become life-long friendships.  He attended Nathan Hale School and later graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Journalism.  After college, Mark headed to New York City, where he worked in sales and marketing for JC Penney.

In the early 1980s, Mark returned to Milwaukee and joined Johnson Controls in the Battery Division.  During his time there, Mark always had a warm smile and positive outlook, and he quickly became a friend to everyone he met.  He enjoyed the many events he was able to participate in, and whether it was the Indy Time Trials weekend or the GMO, Mark always made sure everyone had a good time.

After his time at Johnson Controls, Mark continued his passion for sales while working at PM Bedroom Gallery.  His strong work ethic led him to a career in real estate later in life, where he worked at Coldwell Banker, and eventually started his own leasing business.  During his time in real estate, Mark again built many friendships that he cherished.

Mark will be remembered for his kind nature and outgoing personality.  He loved to share stories and genuinely appreciated hearing how people were doing.  He always made time for others, whether friends or strangers, Mark was there to offer helpful advice or just talk sports.  He was an avid Brewers and Marquette basketball fan and enjoyed going to the games with friends and family.

Mark was proceeded in death by his mother, father, and loving sister Susan (Richard Kosmo).  He is survived by his nieces Karen (Dennis Schwedrsky) and Tanya (Matthew Lancaster) and great-grand nieces & nephew, Emma, Nadia, Grace & Henry.

The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at UW Hospital for their heartfelt care.  As well as the many friends who reached out to provide comfort and support.  Your kindness is a testament to the life Mark led and the deep friendships he leaves behind.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 11 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 NOON.  A private family burial will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alcoholics Anonymous in celebration of Mark’s ten years of sobriety.
