Born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Beloved Husband of Lauren. Dear Father of Conrad (Josie) Schaefer III and Zachary Schaefer. Cherished Papa of Kailee Rae and Lucca Conrad.  Loving Brother of John (Jackie) Schaefer and Brother-in-law of Kaye (Mike) Richert. Adored Son-in-Law of Maxine Kolkmeyer. Treasured Uncle of Michael (Lori), Jaime, Willy (Viktoria), Elizabeth (Ian) and Great Uncle of Nathan & Tyler, Jordyn, and Benny & Lucas. Preceded in death by his Parents, Conrad Sr. and Ethel, Sister Christine, Father-in-law William Kolkmeyer, Sister-in-law Lynne and Beloved Niece, Emily Rose Richert. He is also survived by many other dear relatives and friends.

Conrad loved boats, fishing, and was an avid sailor.  He was the captain of the schooner Invader in Hawaii, crossed the Pacific Ocean in Windshadow, and recently went to Florida with Conrad III and Zachary to pick up his dream boat, a 23’ Boston Whaler Conquest.  Even up to his last days, he still enjoyed some of his favorite hobbies vicariously through others, such as sending Zachary to tinker in the basement, finding recipes for Elizabeth to cook, and directing Michael and the boys as they operated his Lionel and American Flyer train collection.  He had a special connection with “The Bomber,” his 4-speed 1973 Plymouth Satellite, which took many trips up north to the cottage.  Above all, Conrad loved his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, and sweet grandchildren.  Any gathering of family or friends was a special celebration to him.

A Service will be held Monday, March 5th at the funeral home at 11:30AM. A time of gathering and fellowship will follow.
