Age 36, of Pewaukee, WI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 8 in his home after battling complicated chronic health issues. He was born in Taree, NSW, Australia on October 28 1979 to Thomas and Tracey Heckenkamp. A homeschooled student, Jerome taught himself algebra at age 8 and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Madison at age 18 with a Bachelor of Science degree in both Mathematics and Computer Science. Two years later, he received a Masters Degree in Computer Science from UW Madison. He had a passion for all things computer-related and worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico before moving to California. In 2008 he returned to Pewaukee, where he worked as a successful programmer and network engineer, developing cutting-edge software. Jerome was also an enthusiastic skateboarder and snowboarder. Despite experiencing many trials in his relatively short lifetime, he always handled hardships without complaint. Jerome was a devout Catholic and a loving son, brother, and uncle; he left an impression on all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
Jerome is survived by his parents Thomas and Tracey; sisters Therese (Joe) Popp, Monica (Chris) Eckert, and Cassandra (Ray) Czech; nieces Genevieve and June; and nephews Martin, Spencer, Isaac, and Henry.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 15 at the Funeral Home from 4 PM until the Rosary at 7 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16 at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1025 S 11th St, Milwaukee, WI 53204 from 9 AM until the Funeral Requiem Mass at 10AM. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Milwaukee.
